crainiosacral_therapy

This is a definition as defined by the instructors of Crainiosacral Therapy: "CranioSacral Therapy(CST) is a gentle, light-touch method of evaluating and enhancing the craniosacral system, the environment in which the brain and spinal cord function. An imbalance or dysfunction in the craniosacral system can cause sensory, motor or neurological disabilities. These problems may include chronic pain, eye difficulties, scoliosis, motor-coordination impairments and learning disabilities, as well as other physical and psychological problems".

The treatment is a hands on technique. The practitoner will generally apply gentle forces with light contact on your body. Often the areas are around the head, spine, and sacrum (the triangular bone in the pelvis at the base of your spine). There is what is called a "Crainiosacral Rhythm". This is a pulsing within the system similar to the pulse we feel at the wrist or neck to measure a heart rate. The Crainiosacral Rhythm is much more subtle and slower, in the area of 12-15 beats per min.

Crainiosacral Therapy has been gaining momentum in Healthcare as people are starting to realize the many physical benefits it provides. While it is not for every patient, it will produce dramatic changes in many.
