A functional capacity evaluation (FCE) evaluates an individual's capacity to perform work-related activities as they pertain to one's job or employment. The primary purpose of an FCE is to evaluate a person's ability to participate in work. This is done using standardized tests and measures.
Who can benefit? A person injured on the job who is considering resuming work at the same job, persons applying for Social Security Disability benefits, people who have been involved in a significant accident and are considering returning to the work force. There may be other reasons as well. You'll most likely be referred for an FCE by a lawyer, physician, or other healthcare provider. Our experienced and skilled Occupational Therapist is trained in the administration of these evaluations.
